Huesca got the match underway with a goal in the second minute as Hernandez beat Ter Stegen with a simple back post header. Lionel Messi however got the hosts back on track with a trademark finish. The forward ghosted past three defenders in the penalty box before letting loose a shot which hit the left post before finding its way into the net.
An own goal from Jorge Pulido made it 2-1 for the hosts before Luis Suarez put one past the goal keeper in the 39th minute for a third. Huesca however got one back before half time through Alex Gallar after being set up by Moi Gomez.
Barcelona however came out firing in all directions in the second half. First was Ousmane Dembele in the 48th minute, then Ivan Rakitic after being played in by Lionel Messi in 52nd minute.
The Argentine soon had his second for the night as Ter Stegen found Philippe coutinho who sent a darting pass to Lionel messi and the rest was history. Messi then turned provider as he spotted a run from left back Jordi Alba who made no mistake as he made it seven for the day. Suarez then buried a penalty kick in the dying minutes of the fixture to complete a perfect night for the Catalans whose big win sees them go top of the la Liga table by virtue of a better goal difference as compared to rivals [Real Madrid] who beat leganes (4-1) the day before.
