After three years of absolute success under Zinedine zidane, new coach julen lopetegui takes charge. But can he repeat the feat managed by the French man ?
Julen was appointed the new Madrid boss just before the start of the russia 2018 world cup which imminently led to him been relieved of his job as the Spanish coach earlier than expected. The new boss has now spent weeks at the club getting himself acquainted with his new home which comes with it its very own challenge.
Real Madrid will be starting next season without a ballon d’or winner for the first time in many years. But the new boss however has a bigger job than that. Previous coach zinedine zidane was an absolute success at the club as the french man in just over two seasons won three champions league trophies in a row, a league trophy amongst others. That’s a very large shoe to fill don’t you think ?
Real madrid have been dependent on Portuguese striker for pasts years and its a shame he never got to manage the prolific striker who joined juventus in the current transfer window in a £100m deal. The club has since then failed to find a successor with a deal for chelsea’s Eden hazard unlikely after the London blues requested for a fee of around £200m. They have however secured the services of young brazilian vicinus jr amongst a few others. Real are well known for their interest in young players, a legacy for which perez will be remembered for as one of the major reasons for their success.
Can julen lopetegui cope with the current squad ?
he still has a squad of overflowing talents though in Gareth bale, Isco alarcon, Luka modric, Toni kroos, kovacic, casemiro, asensio, vazquez and a host of them. How he uses the talents at his disposal is his choice but real madrid wont settle for anything less than success after the past three years under zidane.
Its a big ask of any manager to repeat the feat managed by zidane in defending the champions league trophy for the first time let alone twice. what a big shoe to fill, not even the great pep guardiola or Jose mourinho could dare to fill those boots and yet they are the best of the bests. Jurgen klopp doesn’t stand a chance, Unai Emery isnt worthy and Mauricio pochettino isnt a bit close as neither have one to their name let alone three in a row.
Julen Lopetegui would most definitely be taking the world by surprise if he eventually leads real madrid to defending the trophy a third time in a row. First task is to stay on top, then win a trophy at the very least, then you can take the world if you can.
After real madrid were beaten by Manchester united in their first preseason fixture the question on every fans lip is, What new tactics will julen lopetegui deploy at Real madrid without cristiano Ronaldo ?
