Croatia Beat England In Extra Time To Setup A World Cup Finals Showdown With France In Russia
The Croatian team who started this year’s world as probably one of the least to even walk past the round of 16 stages have paved their way through a quite rigorous competition and are now in the world cup finals after holding on to cause the England faithfuls a heart break.
The Croatia – England semi finals fixture kicked off with England on top of the game and took only five minutes before Croatia were left chasing the game. A daunting run from dele Alli was halted by Luka modric and tripper curled in a set piece into the back of the net to give England the lead in the faceoff.
Croatia were kept on the back foot for the rest of the first half and were probably lucky not to go two or three goals down. First the Croatian keeper Danijel Subasic then the post were on hand to prevent the competition’s highest goals scorer Harry Kane from doubling the lead at the half hour mark.
Croatia began to walk their way into the match in the second half. Former Manchester united target Ivan perisic was denied the first time by a body bag of Kyle Walker in the way of a much charged shot but was not in the mood to miss again when he just beat Walker to Sime Vrsaljko’s cross and prodded the ball past Jordan Pickford to put the game level.
The game was forced into extra time and then the heart break came for England when Perisic’s seemingly aimless header caught Stones off guard and the Croatia striker “MANZUKIC” hooked home on the turn to kill England’s World Cup dream and book their place in the russia 2018 world cup finals.
The underdogs have now walked their way from the least of the food chain to the very top. A very unexpected world cup as expected and are now just one match away from the celebrations or you know what comes if they lose though. Croatia began defining much of who they are probably when they comfortably sent Argentina into the wormhole with a perfect daunting display in a fixture which ended 3-0.
France would be wary of this very Croatian team as they may be hurt badly when they least expect it. If they have made it through the rigorous journey they are more than worthy opponents and equals to them. The final now awaits for the two teams who have towered above the fold. France and Croatia look to either make history or upset it. A job well done to croatia.
