Julen Lopetegui and Real Madrid put in turmoil by Alaves’ Manu Garcia’s 90th minute strike
Julen Lopetegui says he isn’t worried about his place at the club. Well, with the way it’s going he better be, as Real Madrid continue to nose dive under the manager.
The Real Madrid manager was put under further pressure as Madrid fell to yet another defeat at the hands of Alaves, thanks to Manu Garcia’s 90th minute strike.
It’s been nothing short of utter humiliation for the three time reigning champions league winners. Having lost to sevilla, drawn blank against Atletico Madrid and lost to CSKA Moscow in the champions league, Real once again fell to a bitter defeat in the league against Alaves.
Julen Lopetegui recalled captain Sergio Ramos, best player Luka Modric, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and Gareth Bale, but failed to get Madrid kicking properly as the players simply lacked the cutting edge needed to break down there opponents.
It wasn’t to say Real didn’t create chances of their own, but it was simply not looking like the Real we all knew, the Cristiano Ronaldo bound Real Madrid.
Both Karim Benzema and Gareth bale tested the Alaves defence, but it was Manu Garcia’s header from close range after Ruben Sobrino’s effort had been saved by Courtois that really made the difference between the two teams.
Real remain second to Barcelona in the La Liga Standings, with the Catalans yet to play for the weekend after the mid week win against Tottenham Hotspur. Julen Lopetegui is likely heading to the ledge with such lack lustre performances and it’s only time before the manager sees the door out.
