What a night it proved to be for Manchester United, as the red devils inflicted a deep wound on the old lady’s of Turin and to make matters worse, it was in front of their home Fans.
Manchester United were out of sorts in the first half, as Juventus took control of the game but failed to score a goal as David De Gea was called into action a couple of times. Sami Khedira saw a shot from Cristiano Ronaldo’s low cross hit the post, while Paulo Dybala’s curler could only find the cross bar.
However, It was Cristiano Ronaldo who took the first bite off the game. The 33 year old drifted inbetween Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof to meet a long ball with super precision as he fired past a helpless David De Gea.
Jose Mourinho responded to the goal by bringing in Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini which eventually proved to be a match winning substitution.
Juan Mata made sure to curl a free kick expertly beyond the reach of Wojciech Szczesny in the 86th minute of the game to kick start a Manchester United comeback which came at a panic moment in front of Juventus goal ending up with the ball in the net off Alex Sandro’s shoulder.
Marcus Rashford however missed a glorious opportunity to make it three for the night, as the English young start squandered a chance after been played in by an in-form Anthony Martial.
The win sees Manchester United and Jose Mourinho back in firm position to qualify for the knockout stages after Valencia had temporarily taken second place during the fixture. United now have their destinies in their hands as they hope to over turn Young Boys and Valencia. Up next however, is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
