Real Madrid played their first La Liga game since former manager Julen Lopetegui was relieved of his duties following Real Madrid’s poor start to the season.

Gareth Bale comes close with a header against Real Valladolid

Real Madrid started the fixture in good fashion and could have been a goal or two ahead had Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema made better use of their opportunities in the first half. A story which well continued into the second half as Ronaldo’s Real Valladolid returned more prominent for the next 45 minutes.

Real Valladolid could have had the lead as Alcaraz and Villa came really close to opening the scoring and even hitting the crossbar in the process. However, Madrid took all three points in the end thanks to Kiko’s own goal and a Sergio Ramos penalty in injury time.
