The first fixture of the semi Finals kicked off with France squaring off with Belgium at the St Petersburg stadium in Russia. The opening few minutes of the game was much of an unbalanced one with Belgium seeing more of the ball and France having Hugo Lloris to thank for keeping them in the game. France soon grew into the game and by the end of a rather fruitless first half for both teams they began looking seemingly equal.

The second half kicked off similarly to the first. Both teams had a few exchanges until the 51 st minutes as Samuel Umtiti headed home from an Antonio griezman corner to out France in the driving seat. Belgium stepped up the tempo in a bid to find and equalizer but the French men were just too strong for them as France took the win this time (1-0).
